What is QPD?
Quantitative Percussion Diagnostics - A technology primarily used by Perimetrics LLC. device called the Periometer. The Periometer performs successive taps on teeth and captures data to identify whether they are cracked or not.
Needs Addressed
1st Problem
Following body armor production, only way to test its properties is by destroying it in explosive and penetrative tests, rendering the armor useless
2nd Problem
Using quantitative percussion diagnostics to test material is highly
sensitive and data acquired varies from user to user
Product Overview
QPD Holder Base
The QPD fixture base component. Base will hold the structure in place.
QPD Holder Swivel
This component will allow the fixture to rotate and move along any direction.
QPD Holder
This component is responsible for holding the Periometer pen-like device to allow for accurate and precise data acquisition.
Market Strategy &
Competitor Analysis
Once we have finalized a working prototype and path to manufacture our fixture, we then consider the client pool. The possible clients we can contact about our offering will be dental prosthetic manufacturers and material testing facilities that utilize polymer and metal samples for impact testing.
Dental prosthetic developers who currently use QPDs and want less variance in their dental impact tests with precise results will want to consider our system. Then our main client focus, material testing facilities who test for polymers, metals, etc, with have a new method that gives impact data from samples in a nondestructive and precise manner.
Currently there are no known competitors who make custom fixtures like ours for quick and precise QPD impact testing. We hope to be trailblazers in the impact and ballistics testing with our fixture and QPD system and become the standard in the ever-growing industry.We will pursue a partnership with the QPD manufacturer, Perimetrics, for advertising and market incursion, to relieve the hurdle of market penetration.
